A control surface is different from an interface. The M Box has all your ins and outs for recording and playback. The control surface controls the faders on screen. Some surfaces have an interface built in like the 003, but the BCF 2000 is just the control surface. So, you'll need both at this point, unless you eventually upgrade to a surface with an interface built in.
