OK ensure that these things are selected. In Pt you can toggle between edit
window and mix window with cmd+equal sign. Make sure you are in edit view when
doing these editing types things as you described like selecting audio. switch
to the edit windo in PT and ensure tht the following things are selected. You
will most likely have to use the VO mouse click command instead of just
VO+space bar. This command is VO+Shift+Space. In the edit mode cluster, make
sure that absolute grid is selected. (or select shuffle mode if you want it to
for example when you delete a selection, the audio after it automatically moves
up and fills in the gap). In Cursor tools cluster, select the selector tool.
Also link time line and edit selection should be selected link track and edit
sselection should also be selected. In the Grid/Nudge Cluster you can click on
grid value and change it from bars beats to minutes seconds, depending on your
workflow. Yu will be able to see which one is checked and select the one u want
to use. You seem to know who the seclecting items go with the p and down arrow
and u can click on a track in the track list table to select it. Shift+semi
colon will move the selection down on track at a time while keeping previous
track selected, and shift+P will move the selection of tracks up one track at a
time while keeping the previous one selected.
