Try trashing your prefs for mainstage. This should be found in one of the library folders. Find it, move it to the trash and empty it, (this of course after saving a copy of it elswhere first). Launch mainstage after and it should rebuild the preference. If it was just a currupted ipreferece file that should fix it. If that doesn't, then its probably a currupted installation somewhere. Google for trashing mainstage prefs or preferences
