Hey guys, just wanted to say I've been a Quick Keys user since 2000 on both Mac and PC. I've been using it since PT 5.1 and as many of you know it was rough for me to make the change over to a Mac pro let alone Pt anything. Well, I'm on PT 10 these days with Lion 10.7.5 and I'm amazed to say Quick Keys is doing everything. I've read that it doesn't work for Lion but I've used it on a Mac pro desktop with Snow Leopard and Lion 10.7 up to 10.7.5. At the very least you can create any shortcut you want with any key combination. I've gone much further into it and have sequences that bring up patches in structure so I can load multiple instruments on one instance of Structure or Xpand. For those who don't know Quick Keys is a program that can script and use macros giving us mouse positioning and coordinates which would otherwise be impossible to do without sight. It will take patients and a lot of sighted assistants to get started but if you depend on PT for a living and need to get things done quickly it's a great time investment. I've really become very dependent on it for sessions and even everyday tasks such as email, I have it strip out the headers so I can immediately read mail, FTP, I have it set up to upload or download from specific folders for sessions, various OS shortcuts which I set up to be more like an old Mac etc. In PT 10 it's a must for instruments because we don't have any control other than the librarian and I need to get to patches quickly as well as pull down menus with instruments. Everyone will have a different need for there own application but I'm just writing to let you all know how useful this is. After reading on Google that the founder of startly, which is the company who makes quickeys, has died, I thought nothing would work for me in Lion. They do say it's not functioning in Lion when you read about it but it's functioning perfectly and working great. On a side note this is only something you can do with sighted assistance because you will need someone to position the mouse where you need it and to help with screen coordinates. Lastly, it would be helpful to use a PT template if you're creating QK sequences so your windows will stay in the same place when you open up a session. The version I have that's working is 4.7 and it's now free for ever other than after 30 days you will get a nag screen.
