Yes, I agree. The mic preamps on the project mix really suck. I would restrict that to just being a control surface if I were you. Although it only has two mic preamp, my Alesis master control blows that away and it has a nice smooth jog wheel for scrubbing too. For around $750 it's a pretty good deal and the menus don't wrap.

Hi. I'd suggest checking out the focusrite liquid 56, the higher end
Mackie onyx offerings, or, the mark of the unicorn 896MK3. If you have
more cash available, then something like the RME fireface 800 would
serve you very well. and as a side note, all of these stock microphone
preamps are going to beat the ones on your project mix. The m audio
preamps have always been weak to my ears...

Hi all,
My Project Mix I/O seems to have broken just the other day, meaning I
can't record anything.

Can I have some recommendations for good interfaces to replace it
please? The mixer part isn't a must, but would be nice, what I would
like though, is at least 8 inputs, and a fair few outputs, something
which will match, and possibly outdo the Project Mix for IO.

I looked into the MAudio ProFire, and the Focusrite Sapphire Pro, and
the ProFire seems to win. Any thoughts on these?

Cheers all, and have a great weekend.
