If i am not mistaken, you can create another OSX Partition, install 10 on there and do the conversion there. If you have a large enough flash drive or external drive u could put the partition on there as to not mess with your internal HD Partitions. Alternatively, May be worth the $300 to upgrade from 9 to 10 if this is a money making venture for you and clients will more and more be sending you PTX files.
