Maybe you could think about doing a podcast at some point about using both
together and go over the hardwhere a little and the process of recording an
easy 2 or four track sample? Just something to keep in mind for if you find
yourself with some extra time on your hands and the inclanation to do
something like that.

I do have the pro control app that let's you have up to 4 virtual mackie
surfaces to control PT. I have not played with it much, but it did work
quite well with VO on the iPhone. I could control the transport and volume
and pan etc. on tracks, and it does let you work in the edit view too. You
just need to be using the same WIFI connection on both the iPhone and your
mac, and there is a companion app for the mac. With the iPad, you can have
two or three sets of strips displayed at once, especially in landscape mode.
I'm sure that avid did not sacrifice any control surface implementation with
the new plug-in format, so maybe it would work. So much to try out and
learn, especially for a gear/software junky like me.

I wonder how much in the dark we really are in when it comes to avid, Dave
Pensado says that he is using Protools 13 as a beta tester. It would seem
like we would have more concrete asurances that accessibility is being
worked back into the future versions of PT if they are already testing
version 13.

And now the new iPhone is going to be 64-bit with two cores. They're
really pushing the new camera which is supposed to be pretty awesome, and
I think with all the auto focus and exposure sensitivity that maybe a
blind frustrated photographer might finally be able to get some consistent
decent shots. I've gone through a roll of film in one of those throwaway
cameras that have 24 exposures and gotten one recognizable picture out of
it.
BUt anyway, you're probably right about the mac utilizing the 64 bit
architecture more efficiently. Without having all those shared dll files
and stuff, it really makes a difference. I remember back in the day that I
was upset that os2 from ibm didn't ever take off. It was 32 bit way
before windows really was, capable of true multi tasking, and they were
building in a screen reader. IBM always dropped the ball when it came to
pc stuff though.

It is crazy that Sonar has been using the 64 bit stuff for about 5 or 6
years already. The problem is that I don't think PC's can always get all
the mojo out of it because there set up different then the Mac platform
when it comes to real time recording.

Hey yes the D,A,E or Digital Audio Engine is no more.
Avid has gone to the A,A,E or Avid Audio Engine.
The AAE is a 64-bit engine much faster and more powerful than the DAE
which had been around for 15, years.
And yes should be accessible to us soon...

Hi, Where did you hear this as I would also find this useful? As I got
pro tools 10 as a boxed copy and as I did not have to get an account
with Avid what is my best process for upgrading to pro tools 11 as I
don't mind getting the upgrade if in a few months we will have more
access to it? Nick Gawronski

I was listening to a mix guy talk about going from a project in PT 10
and reopening it up in PT 11, he said that his CPU usage was at around
45% in PT 10 and when he opened it up in PT 11 it dropped down to
under 5%. He said That Avid did a complete rebuild of the ingin. I
hope to have access to that one of these days.
