Believe it or not, that's a complicated question because it depends on what operating system you're on. Let me put it simply: If you don't have Mavericks, don't update from Mountain Lion. If you're on Lion, don't update to Mountain Lion and just wait for Pro Tools 11.1 to be released and then upgrade to Mavericks and Pro Tools 11.1. If you're on Pro Tools 10.x on any operating system, just wait for Pro Tools 11.1 and then upgrade. Rather than explaining the subtle differences between operating systems and Pro Tools version accessibility, follow my advice above.
