That's exactly why i thought you were doing and thats not where to delete them 
from. 
The correct path is on your macintosh HD/Library folder. I don't remember the 
exact path right now as I   do not have pro tools installed on this mac at the 
moment. But in that library folder you should find an avid or  digidesign 
folder and a plug in folder in  there, where you should find the .aax files.On
