Kevin,

I'm absolutely loving! what I'm seeing, yes. I'm blown away! The thing you mentioned about selecting tracks was one of the first discoveries that I made, and let me tell you, I found the other method with the control p and semi and ctrl shift semi and p to be very confusing. So the toggle method, seeing I at this time only do about 6 tracks pushing it, usually not even that, so for me, I find this to be ab, suh, freaking lootly gorgeous! I'm not totally sure that I'm completely keened on how it reads the insert strips of each track. What in the world is AEffects num button? LOL! I mean, I know what it is, and does, but where the heck did Avid get that! ffor a control name! Sheesh! Wow!

The only thing that really ticks me off, but you know, Kevin? this might wind up being a blessing in the long run. I found out that I gotta pay not sure how much but... to upgrade my Auto tune 7 from RTas to AAX. Then, you gotta surrender your old license, just like I did with PT10 to the 10/11 bundle asset. This means more money, and more sighted assistance either from Mom, or from Sweet Water again. I really don't wanna keep botherring Sweet Water Support, as I spent about an hr and a half on the phone today with Ben from tech support helping me test my gear, transfer my license, make sure all my I/O was set correctly, etc. He actually went overtime by a half hour of support's closing. He didn't even complain one single time though about helping me. He kept telling me over and over to stop apologizing, that it was absolutely his pleasure. Now that! is what I call great! customer service! You couldn't have asked for better service! I'm gonna call on Monday after the holiday and try to speak with his supervisor to put in a good word for him, as he really! deserves it! On another note about my Auto-tune, if! I choose to upgrade my license, do you know what the status is on Pace making the ILok manager V O friendly? I know it's not yet, and for that mind, JAWS nor NVDA works with it on Windows either, so getting help's now at least gonna be a given.

The only other question for right now that I have is, in the midi cluster in the transport window, Matt, in the ProTools With Speech, in chapter 3 of recording, talks about when setting the tempo to first deselect the conductor track. What is that, exactly?

Thanks for the help, bro. Really appreciate it! Hope you're doing well BTW, haven't talk to ya in a while. You should call me some time on Skype to catch up.

Chris.

Hey Chris.

1. Air creative collection is the name given to the entire collection of instruments, which includes expand 2. Nothing is different on that front.
You'll have no problem getting to all the presets just like before.

2. Not sure about PT 10, but you'll discover that you won't need it. Everything's been fixed in 11, so you should be all set.

3. As of 11, there is no more RTAS, so AAX is all there is. Fortunately, accessibility has been completely restored, so you should have no problems with any of the plugs.

4. As far as differences, the midi event list is accessible, so you'll be able to go in and edit specific notes.

The big difference is the appearance of the tracks list.

It now shows up exactly the way a sighted person would see it with 2 columns per track. The first column is the show/hide button for that track, and the second column is the track name itself. When selecting tracks from the table, the method of selection has changed. It now operates like a toggle. Press once on the track name to select, and again to deselect. This means that you can now select multiple tracks by just moving to them and pressing Vo Space. This also means that when you select a new track, nothing gets unselected, it adds to the selection, which can get you into a great deal of trouble because if you forget to unselect a track, you will be performing actions to it you didn't intend.

The way around this if you don't have a control surface is to use control P and semicolon to move up and down the list of tracks. This will select your next or previous track and clear all other selected tracks. Once you bend your head around that, I think you'll be all set. It took me a bit to get use to it, but it's all good.

Other than that, I think you'll find it to be a pleasurable experience, and not far removed from working in 10. Hope this helps.

Kevin
