Subject: how to drag files from the regions List with Keyboard Maestro
Folks,
I've just spent a few minutes experimenting with Keyboard Maestro and I've
been able to successfully and, more importantly, consistently drag files to
the timeline. To those using KM, create a macro that moves the mouse to 0,0
relative to the center of the front window. In other words, the mouse will
be moved right to the middle of the active window.
1. Make sure you're only showing the track to which you wish to drag a file.
2. Make sure the track is selected and press Control-up arrow to maximize
the track height.
3. Go to the Regions List and find the file you wish to drag.
4. Route the mouse pointer to the file.
5. Issue a mouse down command with Control-Option-Command-Shift-Space Bar.
6. Trigger the macro to drag to the center of the Edit window. You can
define a hot key or choose from the Menu Extras. KM gives you a bunch of
options.
7. Press Control-Option-Command-Shift-Space Bar for mouse up.
At some point, I'll try to figure out a way to do a modifier drag. VoiceOver
doesn't currently support modified drags so KM might be the short term
answer. Command-dragging and Control-dragging files to the timeline offers
specific functionality to have regions jump to insertion points among other
things.
