I sat down and started trying to write a concise explanation of edit modes and then I quickly realized that, if it was going to be explained clearly, the best way to do it would be to demonstrate it. In the PT reference Guide, there are diagrams that illustrate what's happening in each mode and, as we all know, a picture's worth a thousand words. So, rather than typing several thousand words, I figured it's more efficient to record a demonstration of the behavior in edit modes. I won't have an opportunity to do that for a few days but will make an attempt as soon as I can.
