Hi Krister,

First, to learn which is the plus key, get into Keyboard Help mode with
Control-Option-k. Press any key on the keyboard to hear its name. This will
help identify keys on unknown keyboards. Press Escape to stop keyboard help.

You need an insertion point to be able to nudge because, by definition, the
shortcut is nudging the insertion point. Make sure you have linked the edit
selection and track selection within the menus. The plus or minus key will
nudge the insertion point by the nudge value. If you want to use the defaults
for nudge value, simply navigate to the Grid/Nudge cluster and click and select
a value from the pop-up menu. You can cycle up and down through the default
values with Command-Option-plus or minus. Be aware that there's a keyboard
shortcut conflict if you're using screen magnification.

You can also nudge regions with plus or minus by the nudge value when regions
are selected. Be aware that, if you select a region while "insertion follows
playback" is enabled and you press the space bar to confirm your selection, you
will lose the selection because the insertion will immediately start following
the playback. 99% of the time I do not have the insertion following playback.
Some people like the behavior of the insertion following playback so that, when
the transport stops, the playback continues from that spot. Whenever the
transport is engaged and you're about to stop playback and you know you want to
start again from there, simply press the down arrow once before stopping the
transport and the Start field will populate with the counter value at the time
of the down arrow press.

One last thing, in order for the numeric entry and nudging from the numeric key
pad to work, the Edit window needs to be open. It doesn't have to be the
frontmost window but it does at least have to be open.

Hope that helps,

Slau
