Hi, I was just wondering as I have the mac book pro late model 2011 17
inch with the firewire port for my digi 003 and have 8 gigs of ram
installed I was thinking of upgrading the ram to 16 gigs to max out the
ram but was wondering if the digi 003 will be supported in pro tools 12
when it is released? Nick Gawronski

Core Audio is simply the Mac's native audio engine. You can use your Mack's
internal sound card for basic stereo output. It has its limitations, of course,
but can technically be used. Using an external interface is far more preferable.

using an external interface.

A CPU overload usually means either a slow processor for the amount of work.
RAM is kind of low, again, depending on how much you're doing. If you're using
core audio it'll also put extra load on the CPU. You can increase the buffer
size in the playback engine to help. The reference manual has details about
what you can do about CPU usage. Apart from that, yeah, a new system will help.

Hi, having an issue with my mac and tools, i often get the message that a c p u
issue has accurred. I am quite happy to say i only have 4 gig of ram in this
machine, and i’m very happy to except that this may be the issue, i was just
not expecting a c p u message. and thought i’d ask if this message would be
seen if it was actually a lack of ram causing the problem. This is a macbook
pro. i think the proccessor is a 1.6 molti core or something like that. it’s
about 3 months old. I did not buy a big expensive mac at the time as i had
never used a mac at the time, and did not want to spend to much money in the
early stages. Ready to buy a studio machine now i think. steve
