Hi again: it seems that my import issue is related to the external drive. It's a Firewire 800 drive (2TB), with two partitions. One partition is formatted for the Mac, and has Yosemite on it, and the other partition is XFFat so I can use it with both the Mac and Windows. Its the XFFat partition that causes the error, but the import works fine from the other partition. Funny that PT 10 doesn't have the same issue.
