They're aware and nobody every knows if and when Apple will do anything about any bugs. That's just the way Apple is.
There's no particular method about the behavior in Pro Tools once you tether the mouse pointer except that sometimes adding the shift modifier to perform a physical mouse click seems to work a little better depending on the situation. The steps I outlined about use of the Track Pad are simply just an alternative to using a physical mouse.
