Hi John,

Having been an HD user virtually all the time, I'm not sure, but at least for 
me, Control-g creates a fade from insertion point to the next region boundary. 
Come to think of it, I think that might be HD only. Sorry if that doesn't help. 
Further, however, if you're only getting an option to fade in, that indicates 
that something else is probably going on. Is the region you're trying to fade 
out, by any chance, immediately followed by another region that is butted up 
against it? This has caused issues in the past. I would check to verify. Even 
if there is a silent region or even if it is just a fraction of a second long, 
Pro Tools will think you mean to create some type of crossfade. After checking 
that, I'd position the insertion point where you want to start the fade, press 
Shift-tab to select to the region boundary and press Command-f. The resulting 
dialog should bring up a fade out option by dafault. You should simply be able 
to press return and have the fade created. Hope that helps somehow.
