Sure!

Once I get the final mix uploaded, I'll send it.

Matt, I took your advice into account, and wow! Damn what a difference!

Chris.

Guys, I know without seeing the actual session, this may be a little hard
for you all to say, and I am! in the process of uploading the session to
Dropbox. As soon as it's up there, I'll shoot yall over the link, so you can
have a look.

Basically, here's the problem. I've recorded all of my instruments, and
they all are coming in at a very very acceptable level. No clipping from what
I can tell from my meters on each track. I also recorded my vocals. On my
vocals, I did! add just a tiny bit of compression with the BS76 plug. I also
used a send to send that vocal track out to an auxiliary track, which I've
added my reverb effects to. This way I can adjust the wet dry mix ratio more
smoothely. Finally, I added a stereo master fader, and was able to bump the
level up to the point where now, without putting a compressor nor any inserts
whatsoever on the master fader, I was able to ride the output fader of that
track up just a tad, and get it where now, the meter on the master fader is
peeking at the absolute highest being -1DB. This is obviously acceptable, as
from what I hear, you don't want your master to go above 0DB, as that's when
you'll start getting clipping. I hear you want however to run it as close to 0
as you can though, without going over. This is the highest I could get it.
Any higher, and it started showing clipped on the meter. Audibly, I'm not
hearing the clipping, but anyway, it's there apparently. So, I backed it off
to where -1DB it is. LOL!

Anyway, the problem is that the level over all is still really low. I'm
scared though that if I try raising this with a compressor, for one, it's gonna
get way too punchy/squashed sounding, and for 2, more paranoid side, I'm scared
it's gonna exceed that -1DB and start clipping. Would the ideal thing be, to
lower all my other tracks just a bit, that way on the master, the compressor
could? raise back to the -1 level, or is there a better way of doing this?
Right now, I got it where it isn't clipping apparently. Although, I'm a little
concerned about the lead vocal. It seems to be peeking on some of my higher
notes around -5DB. That's a little high. I'd honestly like it around -12 to
-10, but it doesn't honestly sound that bad. Maybe a little muddy, but that's
probably just me not totally knowing the best way to work with e q. I really
need to work more on learning how to do that, I admit.

Anyway, I'm uploading the session now, just in case. Would any of you guys
be willing to take a quick lookat it, and see if you can figure out what might
be going on, or give me a few small pointers, based on when you see how I set
things?

If so, let me know, and I'll get you guys the link.

    Chris.
