Hi Slau,
What about making a "clip group"?
Thats supposed to   clean up all those edits at least "visually"?
Let us know if that helps accomplish the item chooser issue?
Thats one of the reasons I work in the mix window most of the time until I half 
to go to the edit window, it takes forever to build the VO  item chooser! :)
