While I'm thinking of it, here's a little trick I learned while in Kiev:
If you want to generate clips that contain a sine wave for testing purposes,
select a track and select a range in the timeline and pass through the
following shortcut: Control-Option-Shift-3. To help remember the combination,
think of consolidating clips with the standard Option-shift-3 and, for that
matter, you don't even have to select clips to consolidate as even selecting a
blank area in the timeline and using Option-shift-3 will simply create a
perfectly silent clip. Now, adding Control to that shortcut will add the sine
wave while consolidating the clip. This little trick can help troubleshoot
where you need to verify that audio is being passed through a channel's output.
Just keep in mind that, since the shortcut uses the Control and Option
modifiers which voiceOver uses, you'll have to pass the shortcut through first
with Control-Option-Tab and then Control-Option-shift-3.
