Garage Band has always had Sound Font support via the SF2 AU Plug.
Sfortzando is a stripped down version of the Aria Engine, used by folks
like Garitan. So when you purchase the Garitan personal orchestra, Big
Band, or Pocket Orchestra plugs, you are installing a matrix of 16 aria
players that can be loaded per channel as a multi timberal setup.
All that to say that Sfortzando has revived the SFZ format.
However, it's not accessible with Pro Tools, as the browse button is
invisible.
