Remember there is a big difference between not recommended and doesn’t work. I 
have done many projects using USB 2 external drives. If you aren’t recording 
more than a few inputs simultaneously you’ll be fine with USB 2 in my 
experience. After all Avid qualifies them for PC use with Pro Tools.
