Hi!

I came across the LED thing when playing around with Slau's Click II presets.

On my two systems PT even in stop mode is not that responsive habing the 
"Enable LED" set to "On" state.

I flashed my harddiscs and made a fresh installation of Yousemite.
Hopefully this brings the good performance back again. :-)
