Console one is a control surface, but it only works with the console one
channel strip plug in. so you load the channel strip as a plug in on a trac and
you can control it right away with the hardware control surface. Its
convenient but limiting. Where as you can map the Artist mix to control the
stock EQ or compressor or etc or any other eq or compressor in pro tools and
get the same functionality with most any plug in. It just will require a little
bit of time to set up. The MBox pro is a 4 in/4out interface if i remember
correctly as it was the interface i got when i entered the pro tools world.
The Apogee Quartet is a 4 in/4 out interface in a similar if not higher class
than the MBox with the addition of having accessible software interface (which
the MBox didn’t have if memory serves correct) If thats out of your price
range let us know and we can recommend something else for you.
