If it is a USB keyboard then you typically do not need to create a midi track. You need to create an instrument track, make sure that that instrument track is armed for record and then on the insert of that track you need to insert an instrument from the plug-in menu and you should be good to go. I would start by inserting the instrument plug-in named Expand, it has a good size library of sounds. HTH

Now it is a time to try record my first little song with my usb midi keyboard. Is here some guide, how to record with usb midi keyboard? I created project, I created one midi and one instrument track, but when I play something with midi keyboard, I get no sound, so I am doing something wrong. Can you help, how to set up Pro tools for easy recording? I have Pro tools and usb midi keyboard, I don't have any iinterface, such as Q-con or other, so I can use usb midi keyboard and pc keyboard for manipulation with Pro tools.
