Hi Steve, I’m away right now and about to leave the hotel but one quick thing occurred to me. You might have the insertion point following the playback cursor. Control-n toggles this feature. It’s entirely possible that you inadvertently switched modes without knowing it. Try that first. Also, without a control surface, it’s important to make sure you have an actual insertion point. Even with track selection following edit selection, unless you definitely have an insertion point in the track, you won’t be able to edit. Try using shuttle mode for an instance and that will create an insertion cursor providing you have the checkbox checked in Preferences for Insertion follows scrub. Hopefully that will help.
