Those who have carefully read through the iLok License Manager manual might
have noticed a reference to network authorization. This was introduced a while
ago but only pertained to site licenses. Pace has made some changes to
accommodate single-user network authorization. If you've recently upgraded to
Pro Tools 12.6, you might have noticed a message from iLok License Manager
regarding network authorization. It requires you to have one computer always
acting as a server. Providing that machine is on and you're connected to it
either locally or via VPN, you can run Pro Tools on a remote computer without
an iLok present. To be clear, you don't have to use this feature and most
people will simply continue to use the iLok exactly as it has worked all along.
This is just another option for authorization. Just so the users here know,
that section of the iLok License Manager that requires setup for such network
authorization is not yet accessible and Pace is naturally aware of this and, as
in the past, I'm working with them to eventually make it accessible. Pace has
demonstrated their commitment to accessibility so I'm personally not concerned
that upon its roll-out, this feature is not yet ready for setup using a screen
reader. At this point, it looks like it should be ready some time around the
end of the year. Just an FYI.
