Hi Steve, Not sure why you're experiencing issues. when importing files to a session, these are the steps I take and it works every time: 1. Press Command+Shift+i to import. 2. In the resulting dialog, I navigate to the file I wish to import. 3. I press Return. 4. I then press Command+w to close the dialog. A new dialog appears asking where I'd like to put the imported file. 5. I usually just press Return since the default location is the Audio Files folder for the session. In a moment, another dialog appears asking whether to import to track or the clips list along with the location for the file in the timeline. 6. Since I most often import to a new track and, since the previous selection is remembered, I usually just press Return.
The above steps absolutely always work for me. Not sure why you're having issues. Let us know how you resolve the issue.
