Hey man, I don’t believe I’ve had that issue, but I use Flo Tools, which allows for pressing L when the Flo Tools Inspector is engaged with forward slash, as well as checking peak with P, with an infinite peak hold in PT Prefs>Metering.
It sounds like a visibility issue. I’m not sure, but try closing all but the Mix/Edit windows, press scroll into view in the drum track’s name pop up menu, and try experimenting with HotSpots, setting the level meter using VO Shift and 1-0 on qwerty, then VO Shift Command, or just VO Command to hear the HotSpot. I hope this helped in some way. I’m not sure what else it could be, but somebody with more experience can probably nail it, and teach us both.
