Hello,
Excuse me if I’m wrong here, as I am traveling and maybe I have my ProTools
keyboard commands mixed up. If you want to move the right selection boundary
you would use cmd shift + and -, not cmd + and -. Same applies to the left
selection boundary: you would use option shift + and -, not option + and -. The
commands that you are trying to use trim whatever clip you have selected, which
is why you say you are losing audio. If you want to use them you can create
edits at the beginning and end of your selection to end up with a clip that
contains the audio you actually want to work on, and if you have that new clip
selected you should be able to do things the way you were describing. Hope this
helps!
