Hi, I’m not sure this is the riht solution, but you may have set your F keys to perform hardware instead of software functions. Hardware functions include things like turning up or down the volume or changing the brightness. Try to hold down the function key on your Mac keyboard in conjunction with any of the F keys and it should perform the software action.
If you want to set the function keys to do software functions by default, there is a setting for that under System preferences->Keyboard. Hope that helps!
