Yes, I have used this from time to time. I suppose I prefer using FT for typing start values rather than the star key, as I don’t have to mentally keep track of where I am, since a single press of command f1 gives me my current start time.

So, where-ever you are in the timeline while playing back, you can jump ahead or back by any relative value by pressing asterisk then plus or minus on the numeric keypad then pressing Enter. The transport doesn't pause but simply jumps right to the relative position. For example, if your current playback cursor is approaching bar 33 and you press the asterisk right around that point and press plus then 16 then Enter, the transport will instantly jump to around bar 49 and continue playback. It's worth noting that, while pressing minus instead of plus will move backwards rather than forwards, this only works in minutes and seconds. When in bars and beats, there are sometimes negative bar numbers so it doesn't work like it does in Minutes/Seconds view. I've proposed that Avid implement a condition whereby a plus ahead of a minus will give the intended result like adding a negative number rather than adding a positive number. Not sure if that'll ever go through. Anyway, just another potential means to navigate quickly. One thing I often do is with flotools, command f1 twice quickly, and type in a start value. SO If I want to jump 10 or 20 bars I’ll just change my start value by those amounts. Another option is to change your nudge value to something like 4 or eight bars and advance the insertion cursor by that value with a keyboard shortcut. You can change the nudge value by going to the Edit window, navigating over to the Grid/Nudge cluster, interacting, going over to the nudge custom value, VO-click on it, press Delete or decimal, enter the bar/beat/tic value and press Return. If you use Flo Tools, double-tap Command+f7, enter the value and press Return. I’m just wondering if there is an easy way of skipping through a session in PT. I have afeeling this may not be possible. How ever is there a way of skipping quickly through a session by more than one bar at a time. I know the number 1 and two keys on the num pad skip through bar by bar But is there any short cut or other way for scrubbing or skipping in larger increments. I know I can use the star key and move forward and backward that way. But it would be great if there is a quick and easy way to search through a session. If this is not possible. alll good.Just worth an ask. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Pro Tools Accessibility" group.
