I bought a used Linksys WSB24 Wireless Signal Booster for $5 at the Catlin Gable sale last weekend, and hope to boost my PTP node (a WRT54G ) from 35mW to 140mW . The unit also allegedly adds 20dB of receive gain (which may merely amplify the noise).
However, it came without the RF pigtails to connect to the WRT. These are short ( 6 inches would work ) RP SMA to RP TNC cables. That is, the cable will have inside threads on both ends, and sockets for the center connectors. Invictus sells these for $10 a piece. A decent price, but perhaps somebody has a pair of these in their junk box. I expect to attend the PTP weekly tonight (Weds 5th) - I want to learn more from Russell about small form factor systems. It would be great if Rick brings a pair of these, but I don't expect that. Otherwise if anyone else brings some, I would pay the $20 either to them or donate it to PTP. The WSB24 is also missing the wall wart - 5V "2.5A" 5mm X 2.5mm barrel connector. That I can build, but if anyone has a spare WSB24 wall wart I would buy that too, to save some effort. All a lot of effort if the WSB turns out broken (it draws the correct current, but ...? ), but I would like to be able to reach a few more houses.
