Here is the start of my writeup about running Scientific Linux 5
( a RHEL5 clone) on the ALIX:

http://wiki.keithl.com/index.cgi?SL5Alix

It covers installing to the flash, configuring for flash friendliness
and setting up the serial port console. With this you should be able
to get a root prompt on the ALIX serial console, and do a lot of the
network configuration. I hope to add more stuff for setting the ALIX
up as a router/firewall, including:

- BIND
- SSL certs
- dyndns/ddclient
- OpenVPN
- nocat
- DenyHosts
- patching the linux kernel for the Geode AES engine
- power options (car battery, solar)

It looks like I have the start of a magazine article here, so I got
greedy and put a copyright notice on it. Go ahead and link to it,
though.

Russell - we have an open mike at the PLUG meeting thursday. I can
bring my ALIX, and I can boot it with an SL5 card, and you can boot
it with an OpenWRT card. BTW, I am running the console at 38400 8n1,
and this port assignment:

  eth0 (right ) WAN
  eth1 (center) LAN
  eth2 (left ) DMZ

I am using less than 2GB of my 8GB card, the /spare partition
contains copies of my old firewall and of the most recent working
version (in case a later modification kills it).
