I've been successfully using an ALIX as a firewall for the last month, replacing a decrepit old TP600 laptop. Today, that TP600 got disassembled (for instructional purposes) at FreeGeek, and recycled. This leaves me without a spare, if for some reason my ALIX dies.
So, I will buy another ALIX.2D3 to keep around as a spare. It will be available for demos, or for replacement on a PTP node if necessary. I will need only the spare board, but for PTP replacement I would probably get a spare case also. If PTP plans to order a bunch of ALIX boards soon, and gets a quantity discount (and I assume PTP will ask for a discount!), perhaps I can add my spare to that order. Who is handling that? BTW, is there a timeline for the first ALIX deployment?
