Jeff here at IRTI.  Yes, Ed received a new PTR1 because his rewind function
key operation deteriorated over time as though the switch contact grew more
and more dirty.  I wish IRTI could make such replacement decisions but,
actually, it was Plextor who authorized the replacement for Ed.  Plextor
wanted to have the unit for their own investigation.

This is a good opportunity to share a little insight with the list.  As the
primary U.S. service center for the Plextalk we have seen very few hardware
failures in the Plextalk.  As the few have come in, if a problem appears to
involve the design or production techniques we notify Plextor.  We have been
impressed with their response.  Plextor investigates each incident and makes
adjustments in their manufacturing in very short order.  In our experience,
there are not many companies like Plextor who demonstrate such pride in
their work through their quick and positive follow up response.  Be assured
Plextor has an ongoing commitment to their customers and products.

                Hello people, Ed back here again.  Just thought  I
would give you all  an update on the suga  of the ptr1's rewind
problem. Irti decided to give ame a new ptr1, because,, they couldn't
figure out why the rewind key wouldn't work.   there was nothing
wrong with the board in side,, and there were no bad contacts. so, I
am glad I recieved a new ptr1. They had to send my unit to the
factory, so, Rather than make me wait for it to come back, They
decided to give me a bran new one.
