Yes, you can use a CD-R for Daisy recording and editing. Although, once
recorded, audio will remain on the CD-R, the Daisy navigation files keep
track of sections that are editted out or in so that they play in the
desired order.

As for CD-RW, in my experience, it is difficult to find a digital audio
CD-RW - mostly all you will find are data CD-RW. If using a data CD-RW, the
only choice the PTR1 will give you is Daisy recording. Within Daisy
recording, you can choose PCM 44.1 or MP3 compression, but in either case it
is only a Daisy recording, playable only on a Daisy playback device.

To record directly in PCM 44.1 stereo, one must use a digital audio CD-R or
CD-RW (sometimes also called "music CD"). Then, the PTR1 will allow such a
recording. However, there is no editting permitted.

If I wish to end up with a recording in PCM 44.1 stereo, it has been easiest
for me to first record on a flash card as a Daisy title with all its
editting capabilities. Then, once it is just as I like it, I back up to a
digital audio CD-R or RW in PCM 44.1 stereo.

As for brands of CD-R or CD-RWs, IRTI uses Verbatum and Imation with good
results.

Subject: Re: IRTI & Cd RW types to use with PTR1

I have another question re CDs and the PTR1: If you use CDR-type CDs,
then you can't erase at all, correct--that is, while you are recording
material, you can't record over or correct anyting.
Also, when buying CDRWs, must I specify audio or data, or what, and what
brands work the bestt? Thanks much.
