I too have the same problem and have tried to contact the makers of the
Plextalk about this to no avail.

Subject: Shielding/Grounding

I wonder how well the metal case of the PTR1 is grounded and how well the
unit is shielded.
This is the reason why.
I have the PTR1 next to my computer and the PTR1 is connected to its power
supply.
I have noticed a tingling feeling when placing a finger between the PTR1 and
my computer. I know that there is no ground fault problems with the
computer. Also, I have other devices that have metal cases and I do not
have this problem.
I was on the phone the other day and while talking with someone, I touch the
case of the PTR1 to locate the stop button and when I touched the case of
the PTR1, I heard a little hum in my phone.
I am really beginning to have some concerns regarding the grounding and
shielding of the PTR1.
I do not have this problem with any of my other equipment such as mixers and
such.
For example how well is the unit grounded and shielded with the power
supply? Is one of my concerns. Perhaps the idea of a metal case was not a
good idea, especially if it isn't completely grounded.
Is the power supply connection to the PTR1 positively or negatively
grounded and is ground the center terminal or the outer terminal?
Is there a ground potential difference between the metal case and the
systems power supply ground?
I bring all of this up because I can see where people might have concern
when using the unit on AC in different environments. And also, because of
the AC Hum problems that several people are having when using an External
Mike.
Again, as I have said in other messages, when at all possible, I prefer
using a mixer or other pre-amp for recording to line-in.
