Point taken Andrew, but I know to say they are much the same thing, could have caused me at one time to have bought the wrong one for the PTR1!

You could call a USB card reader a card adapter, technically - it does the same job as the PCMCIA version. The ``adapter'' has to do all that the card reader does - i.e, provide the support for the card on the target equipment, etc. Andrew. > -----Original Message----- > From: Carol Pearson [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Sent: 27 September 2004 17:00 > To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > Subject: RE: Re: CF card adapter > > That's exactly as I understand it, Andy, and I have both. > > > -- > Carol > [EMAIL PROTECTED] > > > > -----Original Message----- > From: Andy Collins [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Sent: 27 September 2004 16:17 > To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > Subject: Re: Re: CF card adapter > > > Hmmm! thought a card-reader had a USB connection, where as the adapter > was for getting a CF card to fit in to a slot not directly designed to > fit! > > Andy > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Andrew Hodgson" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Sent: Monday, September 27, 2004 4:11 PM > Subject: RE: Re: CF card adapter > > > Hi, > > The two are basicly the same thing. > > Andrew. > > > -----Original Message----- > From: Andy Collins [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Sent: Mon 27/09/2004 15:04 > To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > Subject: Re: CF card adapter > > Andrew - Does he need a card reader, or just a card adapter? > > Andy > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Andrew Hodgson" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Sent: Monday, September 27, 2004 12:45 PM > Subject: RE: CF card adapter > > > Hi, > > You need a PCMCIA Compact Flash card reader.
