Hi, folks!

I didn't understand about wanting to put an edited project onto the card when it's been done on the computer with PRS. Seems to me that I have done this before, like this. Create a new title, hence folder, on the card. Put the card into your computer and copy the files from the folder on your computer's hard drive that has been edited to the new title folder on the card. I think that's all it took.

Re-reading the original inquiry, I believe the difference is that I put the files into a folder that was created with the PlexTalk. I didn't just copy the folder from my computer's hard drive. I think copying, although putting the folder and files where you want them, does not get the info for the PTR1 to use into the appropriate file. I believe that this is the file Andrew is proposing to edit. Instead of editing, try creating a new title/folder with the PTR1 and then copy the files to that folder. This should make the PlexTalk recognize the title folder and then be able to read the files.

I think Jamie is right about the reason for Sharon wanting to put the project back onto the PTR1. Whether or not that is still necessary after the easy instructions for doing the split phrase in PRS, it would be nice to know that the other option also works and is available if the situation is more desirable to be done on the PlexTalk instead.

TTFN,
Marilyn

Hi,

I read it that the editing had been done on PRS, but they wanted the title
to go on the card and not the CD. Unfortunately this is where PRS falls
down.

Andrew and Sharon,

In my opinion, the easiest way to edit a DAISY project is by using the PRS
software. I think that this is what Sharon was doing at first. If the
basic problem is that she didn't know how to split a phrase, this is a very
easy process to carry out. It's done as follows:

1. in the phrase list, cursor up or down to the phrase that you want to
split.
2. Press CONTROL+P to start the splitting process.
3. Press the RIGHT and LEFT CURSOR to adjust the marker to the location at
which you want to split the phrase and then hit the ENTER key.
4. You will then be asked to confirm the process - simply press ENTER
again.

I tend to find that it is easier to go beyond the point you want to split at
and then come back to the left but that is just my own preference.

When you have finished the editing, you can use the in-built CD writing
facilities to create your final CD. This process will also write the
diskinfo.html file for you so you don't need to do this manually.

Hope this helps,

Jamie

P.S. I would certainly recommend downloading version 2 of the PRS software
from the Plextalk web site rather than using the version that was originally
distributed on the user manual CD.

Hi.

There is probably no discinfo.html in the root of the card or the
discinfo.html file doesn't refer to the new directory containing the
book you copied over. Unfortunately, PRS won't manipulate these files,
so you need to do it manually using Notepad or another editor of your
choice.

If you see the structure of the file you should be able to work out the
modifications (adding an A tag for the /bookDIR/ncc.html file).

Andrew.

Subject: editing question

Hello list.
I'm trying to edit a file and I have questions. I'm not sure I'm doing
the right thing but this is what I have done. I opened a new project. I
told it to save a audio file also. I chose 128 kb. I edited about most
of the parts that I didn't want. There is one large section that I tried
to split. I got to the point where I wanted it to split but didn't
figure out how to do that.
I thought that I would try and do it in the ptr1 itself. I was doing it
on the computer before with the software.
I put it back in the ptr1 and it said there was no file on the card. It
was the same directory with the same files in it. I just moved them from
the hard drive back to the card. Why doesn't it see it in the card? Can
I edit it from there?
Please give me some pointers and tell me what I did wrong.
Sharon
