Sharon,

You'll probably get other answers but all you have to do is to press the Number
1 key until it says "Insert". This key simply toggles between Insert mode and
Punch in mode. When you turn off the PTR1, the setting that was active at shut
down becomes the default setting the next time you turn the unit on.

Hope this sorts it out for you.

Cheers,

Jamie

Subject: punch in mode

Hello. We started recording something on the ptr1 tonight and when we hit
record it is starting to say punch in to set the beginning to cut. If we hit
4 then it says punch in to set the end to cut. It seems like to me that it
thinks we are editing tracks. We erased the card so there were no tracks on
it. Each time we create a new track. We are recording on a compactflash
card. I remember it doing that when I first got the unit but don't remember
how I got out of it. Can someone tell me how to get out of it and just go
back to recording.
Sharon
