Bob,
A standard mike for a tape recorder should work fine. The original mike that came with the Sony 105 works great. If you purchased a computer microphone all bets are off. If you want to guarantee that it will work with the PTR1 before you buy it get it from IRTI.

Hi, i hope that I am sending this okay. I bought an external microphone but when trying to record, find that my voice is very low. i have raised the recording level. What settings should i have to record a print book with the external mike?
