You can generate tar archives or hard disk images of the root filesystem from 
within ptxdist. Take a look into the "Image Creation Options" menu.

After that, you can run "ptxdist images" and you will find the selected image 
in the images/ directory.

Boot your laptop with NFS root (from the root/ directory in your project for 
example). Using the harddisk image with boot support and dd image's content 
onto laptop's harddisk.

Thats the way I use for my x86 targets.
