I am using the svn HEAD right now, and the images (jffs2 creation) stage
fails.
I have traced it back to out dependency on mtd-utils, and our
application which is dependent on it. I have also determined that
ipkg-cl fails when extracting our package, because the mtd-utils
dependency is not found.

In the folder packages/ there is not mtd_utils.ipk, only a
mtd-utils-1.2.0/ directory .
