We (Bart, I and the rest of the team) are using a 64 bit Ubuntu host
(still Ubuntu 8.10 to be precise).
And the CodeSourcery toolchain is a 32 bit toolchain with a 32 bit strip...

Probably the build Bart started at the end of the day with
ptxdist-2010.03.0 will be correct then.

Now lets figure out why fakeroot is broken...
