I just checked diff between ./configure output of libxslt 1.1.29 and 1.1.34 and this is part of it: + --with-profiler Add the profiling support (on) This means the option was new and I probably just set it to some default. So yes, my reasoning was most probably it just seemed unnecessary to me. If you need it set to --with-profiler or made optional, go ahead the way Michael suggested.
