Interestingly, One Nation Senator, Len Harris, has introduced a bill
allowing optional preferential voting for the House of Representatives. If
it ever gets debated, I would guess that only Senator Bob Brown would
support it.
The Democrats original electoral reform policy included optional
preferential voting, but some how it was conveniently omitted from the
current policy, even though the only time members voted on this policy, they
supported optional preferential voting.
Voting informal, just plays in to the hands of the Laberials. You need to
be able to vote for someone else with out that vote being made void.
Senator Harris has also introduced a bill to entrench in the constitution,
proportional representation as the method of electing the Senate. Pity that
wasn't put to the people with those other referendum questions - it may have
got up!!

Hi Ric,
Would you care to expand on...
"No matter what is done the laberials still win because
that is the way they've
built the electoral system. They've removed the ability to vote negatively
or
just abstain without breaking the law. I love the way that it is illegal
not
to vote either for labor or liberal!"
I had not realised it was illegal to enter an informal
vote. When did this come about? Which camera is watching?
