(Yawn) Whatever calendar you may choose, you're involved in a naming
fallacy. Any moment in my lifetime has as much (or little) validity as
"Jan 1, 2000" or "Jan 1, 2001" as the dawn of a non-existent new
millennium.
Any day, a lively party with your mates has to knock spots off a
commercial extravaganza of suggestibility. When I was a lad, we
automatically celebrated 7 days a week, all year round. Now, I just do it
whenever I feel like it. The coming New Year's Eve sounds like an ideal
night to stay home and flop in the pool.

Brian Jenkins
