REMOVE GUIDs FROM MICROSOFT OFFICE FILES

Guideon is a free product that allows people to remove GUIDs from
Microsoft Office files. These files, which include Microsoft Word
Documents and Excel Spreadsheets, include an identifier that can be used t
o identify the author or at a minimum the machine upon which the document
was written.
This can be a serious problem for privacy since it could be used to prove
who wrote a sensitive document. Unfortunately Microsoft didn't tell anyone
that this identifier existed or provide a way to turn it off. As a result
we have developed a free softw are application that allows people to
remove these identifiers from Microsoft Office files.
Vector Development President Ben Reser said, "This puts the power back in
the hands of the users. Up until now the user has had no choice on whether
these identifiers were included in the files. Only a few more advanced
users could attempt to take them o ut by hand."
Guideon allows users to scan an entire hard drive and remove all the
GUID's that are found, or even just modify a single file. It also can back
up the files before it removes the identifier and allows the user to log
what was done.
Further details of features are available at the site.
Vector Development is a small shareware company that has put out other
products such as Dunce which have been wildly popular with users on the
Internet.
Guideon is available from Vector Development's website at:
