Nachum Goldberg, his wife, Rita, and their 34 year old son Naphtali have pleaded guilty to two charges, while a second son, 32 year old Herhsel has pleaded guilty to one charge. The court heard over a seven year period the Goldbergs laundered almost $50 million for members of the Jewish community in Melbourne, evading around $24 million in tax. The court was told they set up a fake charity and used a branch of the ANZ bank in Chapel Street, Prahran to deposit large sums of money which were then transferred to various accounts, including accounts in Israel. The Goldbergs were ordered to stand trial in the County court after a committal hearing in 1998 but will now appear in court next month for a plea hearing. Comment: I suppose these criminals will get off with a slap on the wrist. Any serious sentence would obviously be anti-semitic. One Nation has allegedly defrauded the taxpayers of $500,000 (although if this is true, it would appear to be the result of ignorance rather than malicious intent), and this has been published far and wide.
